Staff Details
Brett Larkin Brett studied geology, geophysics and computer science as an undergraduate in Sydney and geostatistics for a Masters degree at Stanford. He has been working in the mining industry for over 30 years with the majority of this time in coal exploration. He specializes in computer applications in coal exploration and is the prime author of our software package LogCheck.
Gary Ballantine Gary is a coal geologist, who previously worked for BHP on its Queensland leases. He is currently involved in Mongolian coal exploration.
Graeme Hewitt Graeme has a long and distinguished career in the Australian coal industry and comes with over 37 years experience. He started his career with a precursor company to the modern day Maptek (Vulcan Mining Software) in 1976 and for a period of 4 years, developed geological databases and modelled most of the then to be developed coal projects in NSW and Queensland, Australia.

Projects he has worked on include Coal and Allied’s Hunter Valley Operatons, Warkworth, Mount Arthur South, Glendale in NSW, Peak Downs, Blair Athol and several others in Queensland.

In 2010, he moved to Geocheck Pty Ltd where he has been consulting on a number of coal projects in Mongolia and China and acted as CP for 7 projects.

Andries Pretorius

Andries is a coal geologist with more than 30 years coal exploration experience in South Africa and Australia and exposure to coal exploration projects in Mongolia, China, Mozambique, Venezuela, Malawi, Indonesia and the United Kingdom.

In South Africa he held the position of Assistant Consulting Geologist responsible for the coal exploration activities of Billiton. He was transferred to Australia in 1995 where he was responsible for the management of the company's coal exploration work in Queensland.

In 2003 he did coal consultancy work for BHP Billiton in Australia and is currently assisting Geocheck (Micromine) with coal exploration projects in Mongolia and China.

Gamal Jacob Gamal is a coal geologist, who previously worked for BHP on its Indonesian leases.
Gerard Sparke

Gerard is a computer programmer who is responsible for GeoEdit, the graphical log editor that will accompany LogCheck in the next release. He has also worked as an exploration geologist, and for Earth Science Computer Services. He is also the author of this website.
